If season 6 laid the foundation for canon Destiel season 8 raised the support beams. The sheer amount of interaction and emotion between them. The way they understand each other, trust each other, need each other. I was on the edge of my SEAT watching this season waiting for a relapse into season 7 and them being so at odds, but NO. The trust they’d built was too strong for that by this point. Dean knew, he KNEW that if something weird was up with Cas, it wasn’t Cas himself that was the problem. Literally I will never be okay and normal about this. Season 7 Dean could barely look at him and season 8 he looks up through bloody eyes on his KNEES and says “this isn’t you.” I can’t breathe.
